Whistleblower Policy

Encouraging good-faith reporting and responsible follow-through.

Reporting Concerns

Black Mountain Home’s policy calls on directors, officers, staff, and volunteers to act honestly and comply with applicable laws and organizational policies. Suspected violations should be reported in good faith.

Where to Report

Concerns are generally reported to the President. If a person is uncomfortable reporting there or is dissatisfied with the response, the policy provides for reporting to the Personnel Committee Chair.

Good Faith and Confidentiality

The policy prohibits retaliation for good-faith reports. Reports may be confidential or anonymous, with confidentiality protected as far as possible while allowing an investigation. Knowingly false or malicious allegations are treated differently from good-faith concerns that are not substantiated.

Review and Follow-Through

Reported concerns are investigated promptly, with corrective action when warranted. The published policy describes follow-up within two weeks and notification to the Executive Committee.
